Dalli Rajhara–Rowghat Rail Project Achieves Major Milestone as Final Tadoki–Rowghat Section Is Completed

Raipur, September 25, 2026/ A significant milestone has been achieved in connecting the remote areas of South Chhattisgarh with the country’s wider railway network. Work on the final 17.5-km-long Tadoki–Rowghat section of the Dalli Rajhara–Rowghat New Rail Line Project has been completed. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai described it as a significant achievement in the development journey of South Chhattisgarh, particularly the Bastar region, and said that the railway line reaching Rowghat is not merely an expansion of rail connectivity but a major step towards expanding development and economic activities in remote areas.

Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of the state to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw for this significant achievement. He said that under Prime Minister Shri Modi’s leadership, railway infrastructure expansion in Chhattisgarh has gained unprecedented momentum. Through coordinated efforts by the Central and State Governments, work to connect even the state’s remote areas with modern connectivity is progressing rapidly.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said extending rail connectivity from Dalli Rajhara to Rowghat will bring significant changes to the region’s social and economic life. Better rail connectivity will make travel easier for residents and improve access to the state capital Raipur as well as various parts of the country. It will also make it easier for people in the region to access opportunities in education, healthcare services, employment and trade.

He said the government is determined to connect even the remotest areas of the state to the mainstream of development. Expansion of road, rail, air and digital connectivity is an important foundation for building a developed Chhattisgarh. Strengthening connectivity in Bastar and other parts of South Chhattisgarh is giving new impetus to the region’s potential.

The Dalli Rajhara–Rowghat New Rail Line Project under the Raipur Division of South East Central Railway is 95 km long. Work on its final 17.5-km-long Tadoki–Rowghat section is complete. It is a single-line electrified broad-gauge railway section.

As part of the prescribed process for making the new railway line ready for operations, the section has undergone inspection and speed trials by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS). During the process, the railway line, bridges and culverts, electrification, signalling, and other safety and technical arrangements were inspected. Rail services are currently available from Dalli Rajhara to Tadoki. Once train operations begin on the Tadoki–Rowghat section, rail connectivity in the surrounding areas will be further strengthened.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said better connectivity brings numerous development opportunities to any region. Rail connectivity up to Rowghat will strengthen the region’s potential for tourism and investment and expand local trade and other economic activities.

Connecting remote and rural areas to the wider railway network will make market access easier. The railway project will also play an important role in creating new opportunities for employment and self-employment in the region.

The Chief Minister said Bastar and South Chhattisgarh have immense potential in natural resources, tourism, agriculture, and forest produce. Better connectivity will help turn this potential into tangible economic opportunities.

Development and Connectivity Transforming South Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister Shri Sai said basic infrastructure is being rapidly expanded in South Chhattisgarh alongside peace, security and development. Areas where transportation was once difficult are now seeing the expansion of road, rail, and communication networks. The government endeavours to ensure that development facilities reach people living at the last mile and that they receive equal opportunities in education, healthcare, employment and economic progress.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said the railway line reaching Rowghat reflects Chhattisgarh moving rapidly forward on the track of development. This railway line will not only reduce distances across South Chhattisgarh but also bring its people closer to opportunities. In the coming years, better connectivity will give new momentum to the region’s economic and social progress.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s resolve of Viksit Bharat, the State Government is committed to building a developed Chhattisgarh. Modern and robust railway infrastructure will play an important role in realising this resolve.
