The directions followed a broader review of the problems faced by citizens on roads under construction or damaged by rain. Shri Sai has asked all district collectors to regularly monitor such roads, conduct inspections themselves where necessary and coordinate with the concerned departments and construction agencies to keep them motorable throughout the monsoon.

“Citizens should not face unnecessary inconvenience due to poor road conditions during the monsoon,” the Chief Minister said, directing collectors to take prompt action wherever road damage, ongoing construction, erosion near bridges and culverts, waterlogging or other hazards threaten traffic or raise the risk of accidents.

He called for immediate safety measures at vulnerable locations, including warning signs, barricading and safe alternative traffic arrangements wherever necessary. On roads under construction or damaged by rain, interim measures such as pothole filling, levelling and drainage improvement should be undertaken on priority. Even when weather conditions delay permanent construction or repairs, the concerned authorities must take all necessary steps to keep the roads usable.

Shri Sai further directed district administrations to work with the relevant agencies, including the National Highways authorities, Public Works Department, urban local bodies and other road construction agencies, to resolve road-related problems promptly. Collectors were asked to identify major roads carrying heavy traffic and roads under construction, and review their condition regularly.

The Chief Minister also instructed that work on ongoing and sanctioned road projects be accelerated after the rainy season. Construction agencies should be brought into a time-bound work plan to complete road construction and permanent repairs with due attention to quality. Continuous monitoring, he said, was necessary to prevent prolonged public inconvenience arising from road construction.
