Raipur, August 15, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday honoured officers and personnel of the Chhattisgarh Police and Home Guard with prestigious medals and state-level awards for their dedication, exceptional performance and distinguished service at the state-level Independence Day function held at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Shri Ramavatar Singh Rajput of the Reserve Police Centre, Dhamtari, was awarded the country’s highest President’s Medal for Distinguished Service-2026 for more than 36 years of dedicated service and his outstanding contribution to basic training.

Ten police personnel, including Indian Police Service officers, received the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service-2026 for their contribution to meritorious service, crime control, law and order and modern innovations.

The awardees include Inspector General of Police, Bilaspur Range, Shri Ramgopal (IPS), Senior Superintendent of Police, Raigarh, Shri Shashimohan Singh (IPS), Superintendent of Police, ATS Nava Raipur, Smt. Rajshree Mishra (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Raipur Rural, Smt. Shweta Shrivastava Sinha (IPS), Commandant, 7th Battalion Chhattisgarh Armed Force, Bhilai, Smt. Nivedita Paul, Commandant, 20th Battalion Chhattisgarh Armed Force, Mahasamund, Smt. Manisha Thakur Rawate, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Raipur, Shri Tarkeshwar Patel, Additional Superintendent of Police, Special Intelligence Branch, Nava Raipur, Sushri Unaiza Khatoon Ansari, Assistant Commandant, 1st Battalion Chhattisgarh Armed Force, Bhilai, Shri Jaylal Markam, and Platoon Commander, 20th Battalion Chhattisgarh Armed Force, Mahasamund, Shri Hazari Lal Sahu.

For their exceptional role in disaster management, relief operations and public service, Naik Shri Uttam Kumar Sahu of Home Guard, Rajnandgaon received the Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service-2026 for flood rescue operations in the Shivnath River. Lance Naik Shri Jogeshwar Kumar Dhivar of Home Guard, Raipur received the same medal for outstanding diving and training work.

Police officers who made notable contributions to the welfare of vulnerable sections, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and the safety of women and children were also presented state-level and Director General of Police awards for 2025.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Shri Rameshwar Prasad Yadav of Janjgir-Champa received the Guru Ghasidas Award, while Inspector Smt. Archana Dhurandhar of Raipur was honoured with the Governor’s Award and the Rani Subaran Kunwar Award for her contribution to the protection of vulnerable sections, women and children. Sub-Divisional Officer (Police), Gariyaband, Sushri Nisha Sinha received the Chief Minister’s Award for ensuring speedy justice for victims, while Inspector Shri Uttam Sahu of Ajak Police Station, Bilaspur, received the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Award for outstanding police station management. The awards carry a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 each and a running shield for the respective police range.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Ajak), Bilaspur, Shri D.R. Tandon received the Director General of Police Award, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation.

A grand parade was organised at the function under the overall charge of Additional Director General of Police Shri Vivekanand (IPS) and the leadership of City Superintendent of Police, Darri (Korba), Shri Vimal Kumar Pathak (IPS). Contingents of central paramilitary forces, Chhattisgarh Armed Force, district police force, jail police, Home Guards, NCC and special branches took part in the parade and presented a disciplined march past.
