Raipur, August 27, 2026/ On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai launched the ‘Jashpur Express scheme’ at his Bagia Camp Office today, taking a significant step towards women empowerment and self-employment. Under this initiative, 50 women from Jashpur district were provided e-rickshaws, thereby opening new avenues for livelihood and economic self-reliance.

In the warm and affectionate atmosphere of Raksha Bandhan, women from self-help groups tied rakhis on the wrist of Chief Minister Shri Sai and wished him good health and a long life. Shri Sai reciprocated by extending his Raksha Bandhan greetings and presenting the women with sarees and sweets.

On the occasion, Shri Sai said that economic self-reliance of women is the foundation of strong families and a prosperous society. Women associated with self-help groups are today creating new pathways of financial empowerment through diverse livelihood activities. An e-rickshaw, he said, is not merely a means of transportation but can become a source of regular income and dignified self-employment for women.

He further said that State Government is working to provide women not only with financial assistance but also with sustainable livelihood opportunities that enable them to stand on their own feet and strengthen their contribution to the economic progress of their families.

Shri Sai said that during the previous Raksha Bandhan, 14 women from self-help groups were provided e-rickshaws. This year, another 50 women have received e-rickshaws under the Jashpur Express scheme. Moreover, 92 e-rickshaws have also been provided to women in the capital city Raipur with the objective of promoting self-employment. Women operating e-rickshaws are earning up to around Rs 15,000 per month. Besides increasing household incomes, the initiative has strengthened their confidence and economic independence.

When a woman earns an income of her own, the entire family benefits. Her earnings support children’s education, meet household needs and enable savings for the future, said Chief Minister. The government aims to connect an increasing number of women across the State with similar income-generating activities, he added.

Appreciating the efforts of women associated with self-help groups, Shri Sai said that women are now engaged in a wide range of livelihood activities, from grocery shops and vegetable businesses to various small enterprises. Women have access to MUDRA loans to start and expand their businesses. Chief Minister urged them to make greater use of such schemes and take up enterprises according to their interests and capabilities.

Jashpur Express to Ease the Path to Self-Reliance

Through ‘Jashpur Express scheme’, e-rickshaws are being provided to women to connect them with local employment opportunities. The initiative will provide women with a regular source of income while also improving local transportation facilities.

Congratulating the women who received e-rickshaws, Shri Sai encouraged them to move forward with confidence and set an example of economic self-reliance through their hard work. He said that women of Chhattisgarh are proving their capabilities in every field. Through government schemes and their own determination, they are not only strengthening their families economically but also making an important contribution to the development of the State.

Bhoomi Pujan for Development Works in Bagia

On the occasion, Shri Sai also dedicated development initiatives for the Bagia area. He performed bhoomipujan for a rest house in Bagia to be constructed at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 3 crore. He also performed the bhoomi pujan for a CC road to Yadav Mohalla in Bagia.

Chief Minister said that expansion of essential infrastructure and civic amenities in rural areas remains a priority of the State government. Development of roads, buildings and other basic facilities in villages improves people’s quality of life while giving greater momentum to local development.

Collector Shri Rohit Vyas, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Lal Umed Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat Shri Abhishek Kumar, along with officers, employees and a large number of women from self-help groups, were present on the occasion.
