Chief Minister Sai Pays Tribute to Social Worker Late Shantaram at Madkudweep

Raipur, September 25, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited ‘Harihar Kshetra’ Kedar Madkudweep, a site of historical, archaeological and spiritual significance located in Pathariya Development Block of Mungeli district on Friday. Chief Minister Shri Sai attended the annual Shraddha programme of social worker Late Shri Shantaram, who dedicated his life to preserving and promoting Madkudweep’s cultural and spiritual heritage, and paid floral tribute.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a garden developed to preserve Late Shri Shantaram’s memory for generations to come. He said the garden would not only preserve his memory but also introduce future generations to his spirit of service, social commitment, and dedication to preserving cultural heritage.

Recalling the contribution of Late Shri Shantaram, Chief Minister Shri Sai said Madkudweep is an important centre of our rich archaeological, religious and cultural heritage. Late Shri Shantaram dedicated his life to preserving this heritage and restoring recognition to its significance. He selflessly served the region and continuously worked to bring wider recognition to Madkudweep’s historical and spiritual importance.

The Chief Minister said a region’s identity is shaped not merely by its geographical boundaries but by its culture, traditions, history, and the people who dedicate their lives to preserving this heritage. Late Shri Shantaram was one such personality. Because of his efforts, Madkudweep today has a distinct identity as an important destination not only for devotees but also for people interested in history, archaeology, and culture, as well as researchers.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said Late Shri Shantaram’s journey of service was not confined to Madkudweep. He played an active role in various spheres of society. He made significant contributions to the construction of the Shiva temple at Baitalpur, the expansion of healthcare services and various social initiatives. He also played a notable role in reconstructing the Shami Ganesh Temple at Nawagarh.

The Chief Minister said selfless work undertaken for society constitutes a person’s greatest legacy. Through his life, Late Shri Shantaram set an example of service, social responsibility and cultural consciousness. His works remain alive in society even today and will continue to make future generations aware of their responsibility towards their roots, culture and heritage.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said our ancient heritage sites are not merely memories of the past but are an invaluable treasure of our identity and for future generations. Society’s participation is extremely important in their preservation. Social workers such as Late Shri Shantaram have demonstrated how significantly an individual can contribute to preserving cultural heritage through determination and a spirit of service.

Chief Minister Plants Kalpavriksha sapling under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai planted a Kalpavriksha sapling under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, conveying the message of environmental conservation and enrichment. The Chief Minister said trees are the foundation of nature and life. The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign is a beautiful initiative that connects our feelings of love and gratitude towards our mothers with our responsibility towards nature.

Calling upon citizens to plant more saplings and resolve to protect them, he said plantation becomes meaningful only when the planted saplings are cared for and nurtured until they grow into trees. Environmental conservation is not only a present necessity but also our responsibility to ensure a secure future for coming generations.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said preserving places such as Madkudweep, which hold natural, archaeological and spiritual significance, is our shared responsibility. Only when efforts to conserve nature and culture move forward together can we pass on our rich heritage in its original form to future generations.
