Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda Presents Prestigious Recognition for Timely and Effective Claim Settlement

Raipur, September 25, 2026/ Chhattisgarh has achieved a significant national milestone for the effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and its efforts to strengthen health security for beneficiaries. The State has received a prestigious national recognition for its outstanding performance in the timely and effective resolution of portability claims under the scheme.

The award was presented at “Arogya Manthan 2026”, organised today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, by the National Health Authority (NHA) to mark eight years of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda honoured Chhattisgarh for its exemplary performance in resolving portability claims. The award was received on behalf of the State by Dr. Dharmendra Gahwai, State Nodal Officer for the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Congratulating the entire Health Department team on the achievement, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that Chhattisgarh Government is committed to ensuring that no eligible citizen is deprived of treatment due to financial hardship. The objective is to provide families with both access to treatment and financial security during times of illness and the Ayushman Bharat scheme is being implemented effectively in the State towards this goal, he said.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Ayushman Bharat has provided a strong health security assurance to crores of needy families across the country. In Chhattisgarh too, health services and administrative mechanisms are being continuously strengthened to ensure quality treatment for eligible families through the scheme.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the portability facility under Ayushman Bharat is particularly important for citizens who live outside their home State for employment, work or other reasons, as well as those who travel to another State for better medical treatment. Under the facility, eligible beneficiaries can avail themselves of cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals across other States and Union Territories.

He said that the State Government is continuously strengthening its systems to ensure that beneficiaries from Chhattisgarh receiving treatment outside the State can access the scheme seamlessly and that their claims are settled on time. The national recognition for portability claim resolution reflects the efforts being made in this direction.

Describing the achievement as the result of collective efforts, Shri Sai credited Health Department officials and employees, doctors, hospitals and all stakeholders involved in implementing the scheme. He said that the recognition would further encourage the State to make healthcare more accessible, effective and beneficiary-centric.

Chief Minister further said that Chhattisgarh is moving forward with the resolve of “Health Security for Public Welfare”. The objective is to ensure that a serious illness does not push any family into financial distress and that every eligible citizen receives timely and quality treatment when needed.

Focus on Claim Processing and Technology-Driven Monitoring

The State has been placing sustained emphasis on claim processing systems, technological monitoring, coordination with empanelled hospitals and timely disposal of pending cases to ensure prompt resolution of portability claims. Administrative and technical processes are being strengthened to minimise unnecessary difficulties for beneficiaries seeking to avail themselves of the scheme.

Every Eligible Family Must Benefit from Ayushman Bharat: Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal

Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal expressed happiness over the achievement and said the national recognition received by Chhattisgarh under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a matter of pride for the entire State. He said the recognition reflects the collective efforts being undertaken to ensure effective, transparent and beneficiary-centric implementation of the scheme.

Shri Jaiswal said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Health Department is continuously working to ensure that the benefits of Ayushman Bharat reach the last eligible person in the State. Along with expanding access to healthcare, the State Government is also working continuously to improve the quality of health services, he said.

He said the achievement was made possible through coordinated efforts by officials, employees, doctors, hospitals and all stakeholders associated with implementation of the scheme. Going forward, the State will further strengthen the quality, transparency and timeliness of claim processing. The Government’s objective is to provide every eligible family with quality, free, timely and dignified healthcare services.

Portability Enables Treatment for Lakhs of Beneficiaries Across the Country

According to the National Health Authority, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is operational across all 36 States and Union Territories. Its portability facility has played an important role in extending health security to beneficiaries beyond State boundaries.

As of June 30, 2026, 29.05 lakh inter-State hospital admissions had been authorised under the portability facility across the country, involving an authorised amount of more than Rs 8,383.97 crore. The facility has proved particularly useful for migrant workers, citizens living in other States for employment and families requiring treatment outside their home State.

Digital Technology to Further Strengthen Healthcare Delivery

“Arogya Manthan 2026” also featured detailed deliberations on the next phase of health assurance and digital health. Senior officials from the Health Departments of various States and Union Territories participated in the programme.

Discussions focused on initiatives to make claim processing more technology-enabled, strengthen the digital health ecosystem and ensure the secure and responsible use of health data. The event also deliberated on the future roadmap for making healthcare more accessible, transparent and citizen-centric through Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
