Sale of Plots Without RERA Registration Violates the Act

Under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, registration with RERA is mandatory for real estate projects falling within the prescribed categories. Advertising, marketing or selling plots or other properties in such projects without obtaining registration is contrary to the provisions of the Act. These provisions aim to ensure that property buyers have access to information regarding a project’s legal status, development plans and other essential details, thereby safeguarding their interests.

The authority’s action underscores the importance of complying with prescribed regulations in the development and sale of real estate projects. Promoters operating projects without the required registration may face action in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
