Chief Minister Visits Flood-Affected Areas of Sukma, Meets Affected Families and Enquires About Their Situation

Raipur, September 28, 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai visited flood-affected areas of Sukma district on Monday and met affected families to enquire about their situation. He inspected various flood-affected areas, including Shabrinagar, Srinagar, and Linepara. He also visited relief and health camps, reviewed the arrangements, and interacted with affected families to understand their problems and needs.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai assured the affected families that the State Government stands firmly with them during this crisis. Families whose houses, household belongings, or other property have been damaged by the floods will receive assistance as per the applicable rules, and the government will take all necessary steps for their relief and rehabilitation.

Chief Minister Shri Sai inspected the relief and health camp set up at Shabrinagar. He enquired about the healthcare facilities, food, drinking water, and other essential arrangements available at the camp. During the visit, the Chief Minister met the affected people staying at the relief camp, personally served them food, and warmly enquired about their well-being.

The Chief Minister also visited the home of a flood-affected family. He spoke to the family members to understand the circumstances they faced during the floods and the losses they suffered and reassured them of the government’s support. The Chief Minister directed officials to provide assistance without delay, keeping in mind the difficulties faced by the affected families.

Heavy rainfall on September 23 and 24 caused flooding and waterlogging in several areas of Sukma district. Along with relief operations, health camps are being conducted in the affected areas. Families in need are receiving immediate assistance, dry rations, and warm clothing. To prevent water-borne diseases, teams are conducting regular health check-ups, chlorinating drinking water sources, and taking other necessary sanitation measures.

Chief Minister Shri Sai also reviewed the flood damage in the Konta area. Continuous rainfall in recent days has raised the water level of the Sabari River, flooding villages along the river and four wards of Konta Municipality. Authorities have arranged accommodation, food, drinking water, and other essential facilities for affected people at 19 relief centres in the Konta area.

The Chief Minister inspected flood-damaged houses in Konta and interacted with affected families. He directed officials to prioritise the assessment of damage to houses, household belongings, and other assets caused by the floods. The Chief Minister made it clear that eligible affected people should be provided compensation under the provisions of RBC 6-4 at the earliest.

Around 300 Families to Receive Additional Assistance of Rs 10,000 Each

Chief Minister Shri Sai directed that additional financial assistance be provided to families whose household belongings were damaged due to the floods. He said that around 300 such affected families would receive Rs 10,000 each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This amount will be in addition to the assistance they are eligible to receive under RBC 6-4.

The Chief Minister directed officials to extend every possible support to flood-affected families. The entire process, from damage assessment to the distribution of financial assistance, should be completed with sensitivity and promptness. No eligible family should be deprived of assistance.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that following relief operations in the flood-affected areas, rehabilitation work should now also be accelerated. Ensuring that government assistance reaches families who have suffered losses in the disaster on time, while taking their needs into account, is the highest priority. The State Government stands with every affected family during this difficult time.
