Pending Pension Cases Should Be Resolved by September 30

Raipur, September 22, 2026/ Chhattisgarh Government’s School Education Department has directed the officials concerned to ensure timely disposal of pending pension cases and completion of the service books and passbooks of retiring teachers and employees.

In the context, School Education Department has issued an official letter to all District Education Officers in the State with the instructions to take necessary action in this regard. It is stated in the letter that the department has been receiving repeated complaints about the pension cases pending at various levels. All such cases must now be reviewed individually and resolved by September 30, 2026.

The department has also directed that the service books and passbooks of teachers and employees due to retire by March 2027 be completed in advance. Verification of pay fixation recorded in the service books is to be carried out through the Treasury and Accounts Department to ensure that pension and other retirement dues are processed without unnecessary delay at the time of retirement. To facilitate this process, special camps are to be organised at the block level every year from April 1 to April 30 for completing service books and passbooks.

For pension cases that have remained pending for a long period due to court-related matters, District Education Officers have been instructed to seek assistance from the Court Cell, Bilaspur, and take necessary action for their disposal. The department has further directed that Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) for teachers and employees retiring from October 2026 onwards be issued in the same month as their retirement. Payment of all other admissible retirement benefits is also to be ensured within the month of retirement. The initiative aims to ensure timely settlement of pension and other retirement dues and spare retiring employees from making unnecessary visits to government offices for processing their claims.
